I found the course invaluable in my work as psychologist. The course is very comprehensive, practical and responsive to the needs of students. It provided the theoretical framework and knowledge, interview process and structure, and a myriad of counseling tools to work with the complex issues that clients bring to therapy. Throughout the course there was a lovely balance between theory and skills training, and Miriam and Liv provided plenty of support, direction and space for practice.

I particularly valued the different approaches presented by the variety of lecturers, which provided much discussion and gave us the opportunity to consider, develop and redefine our own counseling values and styles. Because the course is so interactive, the opportunity to also share and learn with other students who came from various disciplines, really enriched the experience. It was one of the best courses I've ever done!

Coming from a medical background, I was unsure whether the course would suit my training, my style or me. Would I have to totally change the way I relate to patients? I was pleasantly surprised to find that my intuition and personality were encouraged and I was given skills to use them in a smarter and more satisfying way. We were exposed to wonderful speakers from all sorts of backgrounds, and were encouraged to develop in whatever way we wanted to. The small groups were fun and interactive and there was plenty time for discussion. I highly recommend both the move into family therapy and the course at Alma Family Therapy Centre.
