Dr. Miriam Tisher, BA (Hons), MA, PhD (Medicine, The
University of Melbourne), MAPS, (C.Clin; C.Couns; C.Health),
Clinical member VAFT, CFHA.
Miriam is a Clinical Psychologist, Family Therapist and
Director of Alma Family Therapy Centre. Since 1967, Miriam
has held appointments with Bouverie Clinic and the Alfred
Hospital and holds on-going appointments with Monash
University and the Emmy Monash Home for the Aged. Using
psychodynamic and systems perspectives, Miriam consults in
private practice and supervises clinical and counselling
psychologists and family therapists. She is a foundation
member of the Victorian Association of Family Therapists and
Course Director of the Diploma in Family Therapy. Miriam is
co-author of the Childrens Depression Scale, translated and
published in more than 10 countries. A new edition of this
scale was published in 2004. Miriam has journal publications
in childhood depression, family therapy with older adults and
outcome measures for family therapy training. She has given
many presentations on psychotherapy with depressed children
and adolescents, family therapy, teaching family therapy,
couples, and working with older adults.
Dr. Livia Jackson, MBBS (Hons) Monash University,
Member RACGP, Clinical member VAFT.
Livia is a General Practitioner, Family Therapist and Director
of Alma Family Therapy Centre. Since 1976, Livia has held
appointments with the Royal Southern Memorial Hospital, the
Alfred Hospital and the Emmy Monash Home for the Aged. She has
an ongoing appointment with Monash University in the
Department of General Practice. Livia is also a member of
South City, Melbourne and Monash Divisions of General
Practice. Livia consults in private practice as a family
therapist, supervises postgraduate general practitioners,
counsellors and trainees of family therapy and is a Course
Director of the Diploma in Family Therapy. Livia has
publications on counselling skills in general practice,
outcome measures in family therapy training and has presented
workshops on family therapy and counselling skills.
Miriam and Livia have taught family therapy for
many years. In addition to the Diploma of Family Therapy
, they run post graduate distance education programs through
the Department of General Practice at Monash University, offer
short and long programs through the Divisions of General
Practice and from the Alma Family Therapy Centre. They have
identified key performance indicators in family therapy and
have prepared publications in this area. They offer
supervision and training groups for practitioners, an intern
program and supervision for a clinical psychology doctoral
student.
